Select and Re-Color the space between two points on a spline (without effecting the fill color of the object being drawn or edited)

Hi @User_J you can use the scissors tool to slice line and then apply the color you want to the segments.
This is not what I’m referring to.
If I where to cut the lines like this the shape would lose its dimensional constraints. And the line color doesn’t remain when the spline is rejoined.
(additionally if i had grouped it the fill area would be messed up.)
I am talking about altering the property’s of a single line segment and being able to customize it with out cutting and grouping it repeatedly to create complex patterns and shapes
