How to crop an object?

I’d like to cut this object in half vertically, and I’m not sure how. Thank you!

(Don’t mind the other layers, I’m only talking about the shape shown in the first image.)

There may be a better way,

But if you select that object, click on the direct select tool (2nd arrow tool down on the left) you will then see the nodes (small white squares) around the object.

Then you could click on the scissors on the left (not the scissors in the top tool bar)
With the left scissors selected, tap on the top center node, then the bottom center node.

It should then pull apart in half with the select tool. You could always add a node to cut from if you don’t have a pair of them available near the center.
