I have iCloud Drive turned on for both Mac and iPad.
On my Mac I can see the could drive and the folder within Vectornator. I can make a new folder inside and it is visible in the iCloud Drive in Vectornator on the iPad. But if I place svg files inside the folders, they are not shown on the iPad.
I have checked the iCloud sync troubleshooting page and have completed all the suggested steps but still no files are visible.
Please advise

Only .vectornator files can be visible from the Gallery screen, sorry about that.

Thanks, can you explain how I import an svg file into Vectornator? I need to take files created in Inkscape and continue to work on them with my iPad
You can import your file using the Import tab. Tap on the + button at the top right corner of the Gallery and select Import. Then you can select the file you want to import or simply drag and drop the file into the import area.
