Lock a shape or text

Is there a way to lock a shape or text on a layer without locking the whole layer?

While this can be done from the layers , but we have to look through hundreds of sub-layers in order to find it.

Yes, there is. In the layer section you can click on the lock of the sigle shape. If you use Mac OS version you can also click the right button of mouse on the shape and then click on block.
