There are a lot of different things that can cause device to get hot. If the temperature is getting dangerously high, a warning message should appear on your screen.
In most cases this usually means that iPad is using a lot of its internal processing power. This could occur when using GPS, restoring data from a backup, if your device is doing something intensive and other actions that may be running in the background.
We can suggest you to try these solutions:
- Restart your iPad. Overheating can be a sign that your device is working too hard. Often, you can cure this simply by performing a power cycle.
- Close apps running in the background.
- Remove it from its case.
- Try switching on the Airplane mode. If your phone is looking for a network signal in an area with poor reception, it can heat up. As a quick fix to let it cool down again, switch on the airplane mode.

La primera opción me ayudó, de hecho tenía mucho tiempo que usaba mi iPad y no la había apagado en meses.
