Program crashes when saving files made in previous version

I am unable to save Vectornator files created on an older computer and different version of the software. The program crashes when I try to save. I am able to create a new file and save it, so something is wrong with my existing files. Is there anything I can do to recover the files?

I’m using a M2 Max MacBook Pro with 32gb memory.
